Do you have what it takes to go from this...No, it's not the kind of coloring contest where you see children's attempts at coloring in a rabbit or other cartoon characters on a piece of cheep newsprint at the grocery store. No sir. We are talking about a bona fide Meerschaum Pipe Coloring Contest to celebrate the launch of the Cottom's Choice annual pipe for 2007.
 
To this?The goal is to end up with the "best" colored Cottom's Choice pipe after smoking it regularly. The final determination of what is the "best" colored pipe will be made by Tom Cottom himself at a judging ceremony to be held on the evening of December 27, 2007 at the Tobacco Barn store.
 
The winning entry will get their choice of either #49/50 smooth Cottom's Choice pipe from 2007 or #50/50 rusticated Cottom's Choice pipe from 2007. This will represent the last, or second to last pipe in the series. We'd offer up the first one in the series but Tom won't let that one go.
 
There are not many rules other than these:
  • You must present your Cottom's Choice pipe to us at the Tobacco Barn retail store on December 30, 2007 at a time to be revealed closer to the judging date. At this time, we do NOT anticpate accepting pipes by mail for judging for liability reasons (this may change later so keep checking back if you don't think you will be able to attend this special event).
  • You can only color your pipe by smoking it. No artificially-colored pipes will be allowed to compete.
  • Employees of the Tobacco Barn are not elibigle for this contest.

So, don't waste any time 'cause there isn't much time between the judging. Get your Cottom's Choice pipe out and start smoking now. As they used to say in Chicago "smoke early and smoke often"... Or was that "vote early and vote often"?
