The exquisite AVO cigars are made from selected tobaccos, kept in store until they are fully mature. These contain a large proportion of a specially fermented, matured Piloto Cubano tobacco from the Dominican Republic.
The binder leaf is best Olor tobacco from the Villa Gonzalez region, and a Connecticut Shade wrapper leaf provides the perfect finishing touch to the AVO cigars.
The perfectly-balanced marriage of five different tobaccos, mostly from the Cibao Valley of the Dominican Republic, gives the Avo line - introduced in 1987 - a rich flavor in a mild-bodied cigar. The newer XO Series offers a richer blend of six tobaccos, using a Dominican-grown, Havana-seed binder with the Connecticut Shade wrapper. The Domaine Avo series celebrates ten years of Avo cigars, with a full-bodied taste in the first of what is expected to be a seven-shape line, all using Connecticut-seed, Ecuadorian-grown wrappers. In 2000, the long-awaited maduro-wrapped versions of the classic Avo series appeared, using high-grade Connecticut Broadleaf wrappers.
